Peace comes from within

Peace comes from within

Ironwire, Concrete, Lack / 270 x 105 x  160 cm / 2021

Peace comes from within" is a large wire head resting on a concrete base, which is designed in the form of a three-dimensional peace sign.

The base (neck of the head) resembles a building with entrances and exits, as well as windows where paths can be seen that lead into the interior and extend three-dimensionally in different directions.

From the solid-looking concrete facades, filigree wire struts emerge that seem to project the contours of the peace sign upwards, forming the head of the sculpture. If you look at it from all sides, you can see that the peace sign appears on the face as well as on the entire head, and also permeates the interior.

The solid concrete foundation is meant to symbolise the body, the wire construction the spirit and the space in between the soul. Similar to my work, we should go through life filled with peace.

In my work I create exciting contrasts as well as flowing transitions, which I balance harmoniously. the form seems to evaporate here from solidly condensing to transparently open. similar to us humans, where the physical, the spiritual and the soul are on different levels from material to subtle.
levels from the material to the ethereal.

Love is stronger than fear

"Love is stronger than fear"

ironwire, Concrete, Lack / 270 x 290 x 160 cm / 2021 old version / work in progress

is a human bust made of wire and concrete, created during the Corona Crisis. The sculpture embodies the universal power of love that rests in all of us. It is meant to give people new courage and hope in times of fear and uncertainty. The two rock-like foundations made of concrete inside the shoulders stand for the unshakeable power of love. The stairs in the middle of these two symbolise the way up, pointing to the fact that everything will get better again as long as we believe in love. In this work it was important to me to create an exciting contrast between massive and filigree forms. From the bottom to the top, everything seems to become lighter and more transparent, so that the face or the head appears as a wide-open space. The word "Love" appears to represent the boundless love that unites us as human beings.

Walk for Nature

Walk for Nature

iron wire and concrete / 180 x 90 x 90 cm / 2021

My sculpture "Walk for Nature" shows man in connection with nature. Nature symbolically represented in the form of a tree trunk, moulded and cast in concrete, forms the foundation of the female wire figure that seems to balance on it. We humans are dependent on nature, it forms the basis of our lives, without which we cannot exist. Therefore, we should be careful not to disturb its delicate balance. In these present uncertain times, which make us humans live unnaturally and keep our distance, she meets us completely transparently with arms wide open and invites us to come close to her. On closer inspection through her filigree body shell, her innermost being appears as an imaginary space that leaves us free to make our own mental interpretations.
"Walk for Nature" can be understood both as a reminder to people to respect nature, but also as an invitation to us to meet each other in love without fear.

free spirit

Free Spirit

iron wire and Concrete, 35 x 60 x 15 cm, base:  70 x 20 x 100 cm, 2019

When designing the sculpture "Free Spirit", my aim was to find a balance between the materials iron wire and concrete and to let them flow into each other in such a formal way that they seem to be one.  The
physical appearance of "Free Spirit" should change from bottom to top, from massive condensed to transparent airy. This symbolizes our physical existence, as well as our mental and spiritual
and spiritual freedom. We walk the earth, seeming to be temporarily limited by our body, but by means of our creative soul we reach far beyond these limits.
The calm, concentrated and wise facial and eye expressions of the sculpture should reflect this free, creative spirit. Sold

Senza Titolo

Senza Titolo front

object / Iron wire, Wood, Paper; Acrylic and Concrete, 72 x 92 x10 cm

This object shows the inside and outside of a human abstract body, but at the same time it looks like a landscape with paths and courses.
Three-dimensional paths made of iron wire on the front of the object symbolize the ups and downs of human life, revealing the inner self. At the same time, the course of these paths (of life) forms an abstract human silhouette.
On the back side of the object the closed surface appears like a human silhouette and at the same time like a hilly landscape with paths and canyons. The colored layer of paper at first hides what is hidden behind it, like a human skin.

Object should be exhibited on a pedestal standing free in the room, pedestal in the dimensions:  Height / width / depth ( 100 x 95 x 50 cm is included.

The object "Under the Rocks" is modelled on nature, the traces left by wind currents in rocks or sand. The airy, transparent wire construction rests on a curved concrete foundation. Thus the inside and the outside of the sculpture are perceived in the same way. The object is unique.

The Way

"The Way"

Iron Wire and Concrete, Dimension: ca. 145 x 50 x 25 cm, 2018

This project was about letting people from different backgrounds work together on a large sculpture to give them the opportunity to meet each other. A good opportunity for this was my course "3D Art" in the context of the project "Stars of the Suburbs" at the Aachener Volkshochschule, where I worked for 3 weeks as a lecturer with young refugees aged 14 to 18 years. This wire project started in the last week of the course.
So I started by casting the first wires into a concrete base, so that the first contours of the head could be seen. Then I looked for volunteers in the course to help me shape the head further out of wire.

Two Africans from Eritrea (Siem Ghrymay, Filmon Mehari) and an Afghan girl (Lama Alhamad) helped me to shape the head. So the 4 of us were working on this work at the same time, which in itself was a quiet dialogue and a very successful experiment.
